9/14/2010 4:53:44 PM this computer has been a reliable workhorse and reasonably fast gaming computer for 8 years now. I upgraded the sound card and videocard, and other than being incompatible with some newer games, I feel it is hard to beat. FYI: I had a little problem for a while with malware and viruses, but Threatfire has eliminated ALL problems of that nature. Thank you.

However, it's only recently (within the past couple days) that it's been running extremely slow. I was really sure why this was. I regularly defragment my drive. I regularly delete my temporary files. I regularly scan for malware and viruses. Really, there's no reason that I can think for it to be running slow.

11/11/2017 6:08:30 PM Old Dell Dimension 8200 put into service a couple of days ago because my other Old Dell Optiplex 330 went flaky-it's a secure machine, because it's never connnected to the internet. And after only two days of use, after data migration from the 330, the 8200 is locking up just like the 330 was. I replaced the coin battery in the 8200, and, lacking antivirus/antimalware, am adding the 8200 to my suite of PCMATIC klunkers. The 330 will be the next addition, if its new battery does the trick. Whew!

I recently purchased PCMatic but it is still very slow to start up and lags. I did an upgrade to IE8 but uninstalled it as it kept locking up and kicking me off sites. I still wonder if it doesn't have malware or spyware causing problems? Thanks

4/24/2010 9:30:17 AM This XP has two user accounts. After a long idle the adminstrator account goes dead. I have to pull the plug and reboot to get machine back.
