Dell XPS 420 Desktop Computer base configuration includes an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, 640GB HDD, and 4GB RAM. The XPS 420 features a chassis update to Dell's 400 series. This new model comes with a glossy, black front panel. The XPS 420 also comes with a small Windows SideShow LCD (or Dell MiniView, if you prefer) on the top edge. Dell markets the XPS 420 as a complete solution to all of your digital-media problems. Depending on the options you select for it, it can wirelessly serve up photos, music, and high-definition video over your home network, it can quickly convert large video files to smaller, iPod- and Sony PSP-friendly formats, it can even record and time-shift HD digital cable.

Re question below-runs slow sometimes, mostly at startup of internet sessions, otherwise is pretty quick(internet is fast most of the time)

8/12/2010 11:07:36 PM Lately I have been having some indeterminable lag problems, when dealing with Firefox, Internet Explorer, or any online games and programs (Such as Ventrillo or Warcraft III.) It runs nicely besides that, for the most part, though I could use a graphics/ram upgrade.

2/19/2010 7:08:53 PM This computer was working well until January 4, 2010. On that date the system would not boot up. After getting the software and files reinstalled though the "Solution Station" on 1/4/10, I have had to work with Solution Station an additional 4 times to do complete factory reinstallation of our software because the computer would not boot up. (This problem usually occurs after not shutting down properly because the system "freezes up.") The Solution Station representatives have not been able to correctly diagnose the problem with our system yet as to the cause of the problems with freezing, improper shut downs, and inability to boot up. The last time I had to work with a representative to do a "clean sweep" factory reinstallation of the software was on 2/14/10. That representative recommended we purchase the Dell PC Tune Up software to help with the problems which have been causing our computer to eventually fail. The entire process has been extremely frustrating. At this point I have not been satisfied with the help from the Solution Station representatives primarily because they have only been able to help with getting the factory reinstallation of the software done--no one has been able to properly diagnose the root cause of our problems. 1/20/2016 12:40:38 AM It has not run correctly for a long time. drivers are all out of date. ect. had norton and it made it unuseable. the internet never works. am hoping pc matic can fix it

8/26/2012 6:28:17 AM I get a blue screen every time I try to use this computer, and have to hard shut it down. It also freezes constantly when I am browsing the internet, and I have to hard shut it down, and restart.
